Jennifer Martyn

Assistant Lecturer (French) , Dublin Institute of Technology

I earned my PhD in Sociolinguistics and Second Language Acquisition from University College Dublin in 2016, funded by an Irish Research Council’s Government of Ireland Postgraduate Fellowship. My research focuses on the relationship between gender and language education at secondary school from sociolinguistic and ethnographic perspectives, with a particular interest in the role of language ideologies and adolescent learner identities. My research interests also encompass critical sociolinguistics, linguistic diversity, and social justice. I am the co-editor (with Vera Regan and Chloé Diskin) of the edited volume Language, Identity and Migration: Voices from Transnational Speakers and Communities (Peter Lang, 2016). I am currently Assistant Lecturer in French in Dublin Institute of Technology and Occasional Lecturer/Research Associate at UCD.
